🏁 The Arms Race

The Arms Race

I've know, it's been a while - I have been offline, enjoying some time πŸ‚πŸ½ in Austria, but now I'm back.

It's been a while since I sent out the last letter. A lot of stuff happened. As you might remember, I have been playing around with Sentiment Analysis β†’ Based on the feedback I received, I thought it would be interesting to build a product that would allow people to get a sentiment analysis based on their Google Maps Reviews. I plan to share the product with you in the next newsletter.

Microsoft and Google are going all-in on their generative-ai arms race, and I can't wait to see what will happen over the next couple of months. Below I have shared some interesting tools and articles that I have been diving into the last couple of weeks, including some Microsoft and Google updates - more to come.

πŸ•ΈοΈ Co-pilot for the web β†’

The arms race is accelerating. The day before Google's search and AI event, Microsoft announced a surprise event where they launched the "Edge Sidebar." The search bar allows you to communicate directly with what looks like a customized version of ChatGPT, enabling you to "ask for a summary of a lengthy financial report to get the key takeaways, use the chat function to ask for a comparison to a competing company’s financials and automatically put it in a table. You can also ask Edge to help you compose content, such as a LinkedIn post, by giving it a few prompts to get you started. After that, you can ask it to help you update the tone, format and length of the post. Edge can understand the web page you’re on and adapts accordingly".

πŸ₯½ New Google features β†’

Google showcased a bunch of new features to its current product - and only a short demo of its ChatGPT competitor Bard. Follow the link to read a presentation summary.

πŸ“° Open AI, written by AI? β†’

🎬 Gen-1 by Runway β†’

I looking forward to try this project by Runway enables you to use words and images to generate new videos out of existing ones.

"The example of Stable Diffusion suggests that if open source models reach a sufficient level of performance and community support, then proprietary alternatives may find it hard to compete."
